V seals

V-shaped seals are simple, versatile, face-type elastomeric seals produced in nitrile or Viton®. Timken V-shaped seals can be the primary sealing element in an application, a contaminant excluder, or a backup seal.

V-seal elasticity: Facilitates installation, Allows a wider range of shaft sizes, Allows use on eccentric and misaligned shafts.

Seals are used in a full range of equipment in thousands of applications, such as:

  • Manufacturing
  • off road
  • Power transmission
  • Oil refineries

Oil Seals

Oil seals (or grease/fluid seals) seal moving machinery components, preventing lubricant leaks and blocking the entry of harmful contaminants, especially in harsh environments. They are essential in almost all types of machinery and vehicles, protecting various types of bearings and other components from the ingress of abrasives, moisture, or mixed fluids. Their primary function is to protect and extend the life of the equipment.

Design Attributes: Timken grease and oil seals provide precision retention designs that fit numerous original equipment or aftermarket applications. The seals help ensure consistent, reliable performance.

Seals are used in a wide range of equipment in thousands of applications such as: Automotive, Manufacturing, Public Works, Oil Refineries, Power Transmission.

Seals for Commercial Vehicles

Timken grease and oil seals seal the spaces between fixed and moving components of mechanical equipment, helping to prevent lubricant leakage.

They also prevent harmful contaminants from entering critical vehicle systems, causing premature wear. Timken-supplied oil and grease seals feature precision sealing designs and are available in a wide range of sizes to fit various original equipment and aftermarket commercial vehicle applications.

Our commercial vehicle seals meet or exceed the performance of leading competitors in the industry.

EcoTurn Labyrinth Checkpoint

In addition to traditional lip seals and our HDL™ hybrid design, Timken offers the EcoTurn™ labyrinth seal, a revolutionary design that virtually eliminates seal torque. The result is reduced bearing friction forces.

Design attributes

  • A design with virtually zero torque can save thousands of liters of fuel per year.
  • Reduces emissions by several tons per year
  • Provides lower and more consistent operating temperatures
  • AP-2™ Bearings for Freight Cars

HDL Retention

This seal, designed with reduced clearance, never touches the mating surface. Its advantages include reduced torque, lower temperatures, and improved fuel efficiency with fewer overhauls, higher service speeds, and lower operating costs than other seals using flanges.

Applications

  • Application of plain roller bearings for locomotives

Design attributes

  • Low torque, low temperatures and increased fuel efficiency

Compared to conventional flanged seals, the design of HDL seals:

  • Reduces operating temperatures and seal torque
  • Extends the fatigue cycle and the useful life of greases
  • Improves the lubricant film
  • Improves performance and overall bearing life

Seals for light vehicles

Timken oil and grease seals seal the spaces between fixed and moving mechanical equipment components, helping to prevent lubricant leakage. They also prevent harmful contaminants from entering critical vehicle systems, which can cause premature wear. Timken-supplied oil and grease seals feature precision sealing designs and are available in a wide range of sizes to fit various original equipment or aftermarket light-duty vehicle applications.

Design Attributes: Easy Installation: Reinforced outer shell helps prevent damage during installation and improves durability.

Improved Sealing: Ribbed rubber bore designed to seal small spindle imperfections and promote positive spindle seating.

  • Seal lip damage resistance: Internal contamination exclusion system helps prevent debris penetration that can cause leaks.
  • Optimal seal life: Vent holes allow lubricants to flow freely around the seal lip, cooling seal components and eliminating heat buildup.
